Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join a growing surveying team based in Mount Holly, NJ. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on leader who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality fieldwork and enjoys working on a variety of surveying projects.

About the Role

As a Party Chief, you’ll lead field crews in performing boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, and other land surveying assignments. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all field work is performed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily field crew operations for a variety of survey types (boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction layout).
• Ensure proper data collection using GPS, total stations, and digital levels.
• Review field notes, sketches, and electronic data for accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients to ensure field work meets project needs.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment and ensure field safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience running and supporting survey field crews.
• Strong understanding of survey methods, equipment, and procedures.
• Proficiency with modern survey instruments (Trimble, Leica, or Topcon) and data collectors.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Ability to work independently and lead others in the field.

Preferred

• Experience with construction stakeout, municipal work, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center for data processing.
• CST or LSIT certification is a plus.
