The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing medical and surgical equipment and supplies. This role requires a strong understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control practices. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning.

Responsibilities:
- Decontaminates, cleans, sterilizes, and distributes medical and surgical equipment and supplies.
- Operates and maintains sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and sterilizers.
- Inspects equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Assembles instrument trays and sets.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes.
- Follows infection control policies and procedures.
- Stocks and distributes supplies.
- Answers unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs.
- Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.

Special Considerations:
- On-call responsibilities required, 1 weekend per month.
- May be required to float to other facilities.
- Every other weekend work is required, and may exceed due to need.
- RTO must be included at the time of submission.
- Facility is able to call off once per two week pay period.
