Job DescriptionThe Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality radiation therapy treatments and supporting patients throughout the treatment process. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver radiation therapy treatments and assist patients with understanding procedures and easing apprehension.
Assist radiation oncologists/physicians during treatment planning sessions.
Accurately document all treatment information in patient charts.
Report machine irregularities to supervisors or physicists and assist with daily warm-up and calibration checks.
Schedule patients using computerized systems and maintain ongoing communication with patients, nurses, and physicians.
Calculate treatment doses as required and report patient reactions to physicians.
Reinforce physician instructions regarding treatment-related reactions and patient care.
Follow radiation safety procedures to ensure safety of patients and staff.
Provide guidance to radiation therapy students as needed.
Maintain daily billing information and organize patient appointments, treatment information, and portal films.
Prepare radium for implants, assist with implant procedures, and maintain radium inventory and safety records.
Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to quality improvement teams.
Maintain continuing education credits and stay current with professional standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy.
BLS (AHA)
Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Radiation Therapy Technologist
Registered by ARRT within one year of graduation
