Job Description

Make an Impact Where It Matters Most

If you’re a wetland professional who wants to lead meaningful projects, mentor others, and shape the future of environmental stewardship in the Pacific Northwest, this role offers the opportunity to do just that—without sacrificing balance, flexibility, or professional growth.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in wetland science or resource permitting in Washington State
  • 2+ years of project management experience in private environmental consulting
  • Strong working knowledge of the USACE Wetland Delineation Manual and Washington State Wetland Rating Systems
  • Experience securing permits under:
    • Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (Nationwide & Individual Permits)
    • Section 401 Water Quality Certifications
    • Washington State Department of Ecology Administrative Orders
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to work in variable field conditions
  • Excellent scientific writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; GIS/GPS experience preferred

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with mitigation planning, restoration design, or functional assessments
  • PWS certification

In this position, you’ll step into a high-visibility project management role where your expertise in wetland science, permitting, and client leadership will be valued and trusted. You’ll work on diverse land and marine projects across Washington and neighboring states, collaborating with a seasoned, multidisciplinary team that takes pride in integrity, technical excellence, and thoughtful environmental solutions.

This is an ideal next step for someone who enjoys both technical depth and strategic oversight, and who wants to be part of a firm where collaboration, mentorship, and long-term career development are genuinely supported.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Wetland Project Manager, you’ll lead projects from concept through completion, balancing technical work, client needs, and team leadership.

Project & Client Leadership

  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Maintain regular, productive communication with clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and tribal representatives

Technical & Regulatory Expertise

  • Write and/or oversee technical reports such as wetland delineations, biological assessments, and mitigation plans
  • Navigate local, state, and federal permitting processes (e.g., critical area ordinances, SEPA/NEPA, Clean Water Act)
  • Conduct and direct project-specific research
  • Review technical documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance

Team Development

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff
  • Support a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team environment

Fieldwork

  • Conduct fieldwork including wetland assessments, individual tree evaluations, and large-scale tree inventories

  • Familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive compensation: $80,000–$125,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits:
    • 9 paid holidays
    • PTO
    • Healthcare benefits
    • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Flexibility: Hybrid and remote options available for many roles
  • Career growth:
    • Clear career path structure
    • Two-way mentorship
    • Tuition reimbursement
    • Financial incentives for publishing work
  • Collaborative culture:
    • Open communication
    • Shared ideas across disciplines
    • A welcoming, inclusive environment
