Job Description

Automotive Windshield Technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing glass on vehicles, including windshields, side windows, and sunroofs. They use specialized tools to fix chips and cracks with resin or to remove and install new glass, while also ensuring proper sealing and handling of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) mounted to the glass. Their role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and good customer service. Core Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and assess damage: Examine and determine if a windshield or window can be repaired or needs replacement.
• Repair chips and cracks: Clean the damaged area and fill chips or cracks with a specialized resin.
• Replace glass: Carefully remove old glass, prepare the frame, and install new glass with urethane adhesive and sealant.
• Ensure proper seals: Install weatherstripping and ensure that the new glass is sealed properly to prevent leaks.
• Handle ADAS: Follow proper procedures for vehicles with advanced driver-assistance systems that may be mounted to the windshield.
• Maintain a clean workspace: Keep the work area tidy and ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored.

Key skills and knowledge

• Technical skills: Proficiency with specialized tools for cutting, removing, and installing glass, as well as using adhesives and sealants.
• Attention to detail: Precision is critical for a secure and safe installation.
• Safety procedures: Adherence to safety protocols while working with sharp tools and glass.
• Customer service: Ability to communicate with customers, explain repairs, provide pricing, and ensure satisfaction.
