Art Education Assistant (Upcycled Fashion Design · Mixed Media) January-June 2026

Creative Nature NYC is seeking an Art Education Assistant to support our lead teachers in an upcycled fashion design class for children ages 5–10 .

At Creative Nature NYC , children explore recycled materials, nature, and their imaginations through hands-on art and design projects. Together, we blur the lines between art, science, invention, and play — nurturing curiosity, care for the environment, and creative confidence.

Position Details

• Commitment: January–June 2026
• Schedule: 1.5-hour classes (after-school days 3:30-5:00 pm *Tuesdays)
• Compensation: $40 per session
• Location: Manhattan (Upper East Side & Upper West Side)

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in preparing materials and setting up the classroom.
• Assist children (ages 5–10) with hands-on art and design projects, including sewing, collage, and creative use of recycled materials.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Follow directions from the lead teacher and anticipate classroom needs.
• Encourage participation, cooperation, and creativity among students.
• Assist with cleanup and transitions between activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 5–10 (as an assistant, nanny, camp counselor, or volunteer).
• Interest in art, fashion design, and creative reuse of materials.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with a lead teacher.
• Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude in a fast-moving classroom.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
